The film covers May18-27, 1980, when thousands of students and citizens in Gwangju were killed by armed troops during massive antigovernment demonstrations. The events remain politically contentious, with some locals believing U.S. military commanders stationed in Seoul may have given their implicit consent to the orders.credits: soompiSPOILER ALERT!!!Jun Ki's character was killed in the movie.
The story of the movie is the struggle against oppression by government.
And Jun K's role is the victim.
After he died, his older brother will be a leader of citizens.
This is the real history of Korea.
Jun Ki's role is small but very important. His death sets off the main struggle.
That's all I know right now. If anyone knows anything else, please feel free to post it here

hehehe, that's why the settings look very old...well, I know that Jun Ki died on the tragedy in Gwangju in the movie...He's brother here wants Jun Ki's death to have a meaning... I think he couldn't accept that he's younger brother died because of a nonsense antigoverment demonstration...so he did form a group here of citizens... as chullie have mention...
